This sweater-blazer has a built in scarf making it multifunctional as well as totally genius. You’ll stay warm as the weather cools down, while looking flawless in this perfect sweater top. I’d keep it simple with a black top and black skinny denim under this for a casual chic look.

Everyone needs a good black turtleneck sweater. It’s the basis for many outfits, and will carry you through many different types of events. Pair it with light denim and you have a sophisticated casual look. Go with a wide leg trouser for work attire. It’s a must have for every wardrobe.

Determining Your outfit Needs

There are a lot of things to consider when picking out clothes for a trip. Your location, your events, and the level of dress you would like to be at. Some prefer to travel in the most casual of outfits, others like to be a bit more formal. Wherever you’re at, the tips below should help you pick the perfect top.

Next up, let’s take a look at the type of materials and what to consider in packing:

  • Lightweight – I include tees, tanks and sheer blouses in this category. It’s perfect for layering pieces, especially if you are heading somewhere that you know you’ll be heading indoors and out often. Most often, you’ll have more formal tops in this category as well.
  •  Medium weight- This category will be the most common of the three. Thing button down tops, basic knits and tops.
  • Heavy weight – As the weather gets cooler, you’ll find yourself pulling for these tops more frequently. Think sweaters and sweatshirts. Fabrics include wools and cashmere. I always like to include some sort of sweater on a trip, as you never know when you might need it.

You’ll notice that the majority of the tops I have selected for this page are solid colors. They are easier to fit into a wardrobe, but I would certainly not suggest that you shy away from pattern. I believe it is always smart to have a few staple pieces that can easily fit into any wardrobe, then add in a few bold prints.
